If you’re a a big fan of Samantha Pynn from Pure Design like I am, you’ll love how she transforms the Pure Design Production Office using inexpensive IKEA products.  I know a lot of people out there are anti-IKEA but they have so many things that can help transform a room into an elegant, comfortable, functional and fun space!

Meltorp dining tables

Today is the first day of my vacation!!  YAY!! Lou’s sister and her family are coming for a visit so this morning we did a good clean in the condo and now we finally get to relax!  We won’t be picking them up from the airport until 3pm so I’ve been chilling on the couch reading blogs and I came across some really amazing ones!

Follow these blogs… you won’t regret it! Enjoy!

Seeing my Metropolitan Home magazine in my mailbox tonight when I got home just completely made my day!!  I couldn’t have asked for anything better to come home to especially after having a very busy weekend and Monday.  After having lasagna and garlic bread for dinner, I relaxed in front of the tv and read my November 2009 issue.

In this issue, we get a sneak peek of Emily Robinson’s (from the Dixie Chicks) loft in downtown San Antonio.  Emily has been known to be the quiet one out of the Dixie Chicks and I think her loft suites her personality perfectly!!  The loft is flooded by natural light and even though it has concrete floors (which I’m not a huge fan of), it feels warm and inviting. Enjoy more pics of her loft here.

I came across a website called DesignerHotels.com today when I was looking for a boutique hotel in Montreal for a future trip next year and I was completely blown away by these gorgeous, lush, chic hotels all over the world.  These designer hotels are TRES POSH and wwaaayy out of league!  But I hope one day to be able to afford to stay in places like these.

Because I have a HUGE love for food as I do with decorating and interior design, every so often I’ll do a blog entry about a food experience.  On Thanksgiving, my family and I went to McDonald’s for breakfast and as always, the kids had pancakes.  I have to say that for me, McDonald’s pancakes are my favourite pancakes ever!! They’re so light and fluffy.  I hate dense pancakes.  And the syrup..OOOHHHH the syrup!  Aunt Jemima is tied with McD’s syrup!

Ottoman search

13Oct09

My most favourite thing to do in the whole wide world is watch TV!  I just want to sit on my settee and put my feet up.  I can spend countless hours glued to the TV as long as I’m comfortable.  I haven’t had an ottoman for almost a year now and I’ve decided that I can’t live without one.  The last one I had was chewed up by my dog, Ziggy, and scratched to death by my cats Jasper and Libra.  I know it’s probably crazy for me to get another one based on what I just said but I’ve since found a way to stop the cats from scratching and thank god, Ziggy no longer chews furniture.

I’m also starting not to like my coffee table firstly because I can’t rest my feet up on it because it’s hard and made of wood and second, it’s dark brown and modern and I’d love something a little lighter and warm.

Here are some options that I found for ottomans and coffee table/ottomans.

Ian Cox Design

12Oct09

It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to spend some quality time in the bloggosphere.  Today I was enjoying a nice tall glass of  Design Milk and came across a Toronto designer named Ian Cox.

His clean lined designs with natural woods are warm and modern all at the same time.  I love the use of pockets for books or magazines that he uses for desks and the mixture of woods in his tables.

I used to own an original riddling wine rack from France and though I love the authenticity of the one I have, but I’m very impressed with Cox’s modern take on them.

My Belle deal

16Sep09

belle2

Today was an exciting day for Mark and I. We struck a dream deal with one of our sales traders.  Well a dream for us at least.  Belle magazine that is published in Australia is by far our favourite home decor magazine.  The Great Canadian News Stand in our building is the only place we’ve seen this magazine in and every other month (Belle publishes 6 issues/year) we make it a point to peruse the new issue.  Perusing is all we can afford to do.  The retail price for this magazine is $13.95+tax.  That’s a little over my magazine budget so all I can do is visit it as often as possible at TGCNS.

The sales trader that we made the deal with has spent the last year completely gutting and renovating her new house in Rosedale and at least once a week she would come by our desk and flip through our home magazine collection.  We keep our old magazines at work.  She’s borrowed many of our mags and keeps wanting us to let her rip out the pages she wants but as a home magazine lover, it’s so hard to part with any page especially if it has something you like on it.  So today she asked us if we could make a deal with her.  She’d pay us $200 if she could rip out the pages she liked from our magazines.

Mark and I just looked at each other as if we had just seen someone get beat down with a bleeding eye or something.  It was like, “Oooohhh… that hurts!”.  But then Mark came up with a great idea to have her pay for 2 Belle subscriptions for a year!  All she said was, “Done. Order it online. I know my visa number by heart.”.

So today was a great day for us and we both can’t wait until we receive our very first issue.  I’ll be sure to let you know when I get it.

If you love colorful bed linen, lamps, pillows, art etc then you must visit Inhabit’s website that now ships to Canada!

I love the unique textile designs and colorful patterns. Any of their items would compliment any room perfectly!
